Awards and Special Recognition
National Blue Ribbon School 2000-2019
A National Blue Ribbon School award
affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in
creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging content. Bodkin
Elementary School is extremely proud to have been recognized in the year
2000-2001 for its exemplary teaching and learning. We have continued to maintain
our National Blue Ribbon Status.
Carson Scholar's Fund Nomination
Michelle F. is Bodkin's Nominee for the Prestigious Ben Carson Scholar's Fund. The Carson Scholar's Fund awards $1,000 college scholarships to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities.
Michelle was nominated by her teachers for her leadership, empathy, teamwork, and problem solving abilities. One reason Michelle is deserving of this recognition is because of her dedication to Bodkin's "Green Team". Every morning, Michelle works with Bodkin's Green Team to maintain, enforce and teach good recycling habits in each classroom. In addition to this, she does announcements with the Green Team to share a Green Tip of the week, and discuss the importance of Waste Free lunches. |
Wellness SchoolThe Anne Arundel County Public Schools Wellness School of Distinction Award recognizes schools that demonstrate a high priority for the health and well being of students, staff, and school supporters through the implementation of or improvement of practices that have produced positive outcomes for the entire school community. Bodkin Elementary earned this recognition in 2017.

Local Artist (A.K.A. Mrs. Cockcroft)
Visit the Bodkin Media Center and take a peek at the amazing art work decorating our media center walls! In 2017, the PTA commissioned our very own Jacki Cockcroft to create some new artwork for Bodkin. Mrs. Cockcroft’s experience with string art along with Bodkin’s close proximity to the Bodkin, Wharf, Main, and Back Creeks, made this nautical piece an obvious choice. The sting art is flanked by turtle and crab wooden cutouts. You can even enter the global coordinates to help you navigate your way to Bodkin Elementary. See the full article in the Pasadena Voice.
