Community Partnerships
Bodkin Elementary PTA
The PTA at Bodkin is AMAZING! They support all of our initiatives ranging from classroom supplies for the Maryland Diamondback Terrapins to supporting larger endeavors. They support many environmental activities through funding, materials, promotions, and by organizing groups of parent-volunteers for maintaining outdoor gardens, recycling, and our annual Environmental Fair.
Magothy Cooperative Preschool and Masonville Cove
Masonville Cove provides Outreach opportunities to KG, 1st, 3rd and 4th graders.
As for Magothy Cooperative Preschool, Kristin McCreery volunteers on behalf of Magothy to share the composting worms to kickoff composting with 3rd grade at Bodkin. In addition to this, both, Masonville Cove and Magothy Cooperative attend our Environmental Fair each year to help foster a love for learning in our environment. |

Eagle ScoutsMaybe you have noticed a new addition to Bodkin’s grounds that aren't for play, but for learning. The "Information Stations" were constructed by Eagle Scout Andy Broersma in 2017 as the final step in his path to becoming an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 412.
Andy chose Bodkin as the beneficiary of his Eagle Scout Project because his mom, brother and he all attended Bodkin. He wanted to give back to the teachers and to the school that had such a large impact on his life. An Eagle Scout project is much more than just using construction skills to build something. An Eagle Scout project must be a scout led project that demonstrates the leadership skills of the Eagle candidate. Andy had to create the concept, design, get approvals, create a budget, recruit volunteers and fund raise, and then, lead his team of volunteers to create a successful project. Andy's posts hold information sheets about our Monarch Gardens, Compost Tumbler, Water Conservation and Maryland History. |

Clear SharkThis is one of Bodkin's newest partnerships. Through educational programs, they are partnering with our school to promote engagement with Maryland’s waterways.
ClearSharkH2O has worked with Bodkin's Green School Committee to provide Professional Development and Outreach opportunities for our KG, 1st, and 3rd grade classes. |
Abitibi Paper Recycling ProgramBodkin is also proud to participate in this business partnership. Bright green and yellow containers-called Abitibi Paper Retrievers- are placed in highly visible, convenient areas where students, staff and residents can drop off their office papers, newspaper, magazines, shopping catalogs and mail. The recycled materials are collected, weighted and a check is issued directly to the school.

These wonderful organizations fully support our Environmental Fair and have been in attendance for the past six years. They provide the students and their parents with a range of opportunities for environmental discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
